Since they don't rely on their guns as much, they work better under smokescreen. The low tiers can flood torps, the high tiers can snipe with torps. Otherwise same general playstyle as USN CLs/CAs. IJN CLs/CAs: They have torpedoes they can use as parting gifts in addition to reasonable RoF. Short rudder rate, but larger turn circle. Most all IJN BBs have the longest firing range of any currently available BB in-game. IJN BBs: Long-range snipers and mobile (most all of them are faster than their USN Tier counterparts until T9). Fewer planes per group, but more groups per CV. IJN CVs: If you want to absolutely kill anything that floats. Torpedo hell: A hunter-killer pack of IJN DDs and CLs/CAs can make entire passes lethal to travel. USN DDs: See Gun Diplomacy and USN CLs/CAs. Also serves as your main AA defense escorts. Slow rudder rate but smaller turn circle. Not very enjoyable until around T8 or so. They have to get up close (14km or less) and personal for most engagements. USN BBs: Mid-range Brawlers and slow and steady to enter combat. More planes per group, but fewer groups per CV. USN CVs: If you want to absolutely kill anything that flies. Oh, BTW, did I mention, more guns? Guns on DDs, guns on CLs and CAs, and guns on BBs. Gun diplomacy: You will only really need to use guns, guns, and more guns. Of the two real factions we have so far, they have polar opposite playstyles, with Wargaming mentioning that the rest of the nations will have characteristics set somewhere between the two.
